My feeling is there is much more to be gained from the data here.

@graham, how does that play in terms of PIRUS2? Will that help us with data, or stats?

Looking at the IRStats documentation there is the IR Stats page on the EPrints wiki and the IR Stats Technical Documentation.

From the former resource it seems that “AWStats data is used to filter out webspiders and classify search engines“. This goes on to add that “This is a separate log analysing program and can be obtained from http://awstats.sourceforge.net/“. However I was unable to find out exactly what this means. I will see if I can find a reference for what exactly this figure means.

Have you looked at the reasons for that result?

I’m just in the process of putting together Leicester annual stats report on 2010 (I do monthlies as well). One difficulty for mem certainly in terms of getting higher up to take what I’m saying “seriously” is the lack of benchmarking in the field. Last year’s SCONUL stats questions didn’t help much as they weren’t (IMHO) asking the right questions, but at least they were a start.

I tend to find though higher ups here are pretty much solely focussed on record numbers (not full-text) and record accesses (again to anything). I try and steer them towards the importance of the full text usage as best i can though.
