Just a quick note about the first Google Apps for Education Summit taking place in Prague October 13/14 and featuring a session by Martin Hamilton :)

The summit is a fantastic two day event taking place in the International School of Prague on Saturday October 13th and Sunday October 14th. The summit is focused on helping you get the most out of Google Apps for Education in both 'primary/secondary schools' and 'Higher Education' environments. We have sessions lead by some of the worlds leading Google apps experts including Google staff and Google Certified Teachers and trainers.

There will be sessions for teachers/lecturers, school administrators and school IT managers. We guarantee you will leave the summit with knowledge that you can take away to your school and start using straight away.

In addition we will have a 'Chromebooks playground'; A dedicated classroom with experts on hand where you can drop in at any time during the conference to try out Google Chromebooks.

Here's one from me covering some of our recent student engagement work, which has many parallels...

http://blog.martinh.net/2012/03/introducing-mylboro-new-website-for.html

As I say in the blog post, we've had excellent results from getting out there to talk to our punters about options and future directions, and actively soliciting a steer from them.

This does run counter to "IT department culture", though, and may be difficult for some people to come to terms with!
